Not Our Menu: False Solutions to Hunger and Malnutrition
COVID-19 has not only exacerbated hunger but has also laid bare inequality, failures of capitalism and corporate-induced food systems. Today we are at the crossroads - while additional 161 million people faced hunger amid the COVID-19 pandemic, solutions proposed to tackle hunger and malnutrition are in total disrespect of food sovereignty and fail to unveil the real drivers.

There is thus a need to debunk and unpack corporate-led false solutions to hunger and make a paradigm shift toward people and food sovereignty centered food systems that truly embrace nature and respect human rights. The 2021 edition of the Right to Food and Nutrition WATCH, an annual publication of the Global Network for the Right to Food and Nutrition to be launched on October 12 (to be confirmed), aims contribute to the current debates around these issues. The proposed online seminar will discuss why food sovereignty, Agroecology and community centered solutions to hunger and malnutrition can forge new pathways for the realization of the right to food and nutrition
